A few years back I stumbled across a thread on OffTopic.com titled something like “What’s the biggest regret you have and the most important life lesson you know?” and it made itself apparent to me that most people on this forum (main demographic: Males 18-35 years old, tech savvy, affluent) had given up on living their life according to their “DNA,” as Gary Vaynerchuk puts it, in order to live a life they thought others wanted them to or would bring them a ‘comfortable lifestyle.’ Here is my response:
To all of you who are saying you fucked up, you must realize that complacency is what kills most people’s dreams. You become satisfied enough with what you have and put your own desires in the back seat because you can’t find the motivation and passion to pursue what you want to become.
It’s a sad state of affairs when you see someone talking past tense at the potential they had. Your potential doesn’t leave you; you just begin to ignore it over time. Many people don’t see past their “failures” and say to themselves that they can’t try anymore because they’ll just fail. They don’t realize that the more you fail, the more successful you will be; you learn from your past mistakes and misgivings. Complacency is a disease.”
